7 Wonder To Produce The Untreatables

The team behind Channel 4 medical series Embarrassing Bodies have reunited for a primetime ITV commission.

Sue Murphy and Kate Teckman, who ordered the Maverick format while they were at Channel 4, have teamed with its creator Alexandra Fraser to produce The Untreatables.

The hour-long show, produced by Fraser’s 7 Wonder, will meet patients with extraordinary health conditions who have been repeatedly misdiagnosed for years.

A group of leading doctors will attempt to help the individuals using cutting edge treatments and new surgeries. The show will follow the patients from their latest diagnosis to revealing whether or not they have been cured.

ITV is yet to commit to the final length of the series, with the decision dependent on how well 7 Wonder’s search for cures progresses.

The Untreatables was ordered by head of factual entertainment Murphy and commissioning editor Teckman. It will be exec produced by 7 Wonder creative director Duncan Coates.

7 Wonder was established by former Maverick chief executive Fraser in 2014.

“Health is a universal obsession and The Untreatables’ authentic take on the real-life drama of searching for a cure, offers a compelling new approach,” said Teckman.
