BBC Worldwide Woos Pixiwoo For Painted Ladies Exclusive

7Wonder are to produce a feature length documentary in collaboration with BBC Worldwide and online super-talent Samantha and Nicola Chapman, aka Pixiwoo

BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the BBC, has struck a deal with online super-talent Samantha and Nicola Chapman, aka Pixiwoo for Pixiwoo Presents Painted Ladies: Icons (working title) – a feature length authored documentary, available to own in the UK and Ireland from November. This will be Pixiwoo’s first long form project and BBC Worldwide’s second collaboration with YouTube influencers for an exclusive commission, after the success of Joe and Caspar Hit The Road in 2015.

Sam and Nic Chapman are blogging and vlogging stars who have made their name with celebrity make-up tutorials on their YouTube channel, Pixiwoo. Their 2 million YouTube subscribers tune into their videos to watch make-up tutorials, product assessments and share their beauty stories.

Sam says: “We’re honoured, and so excited to be working with the BBC on this, a dream project for us. From the idea through to production, this has truly been our baby. We’re hugely proud of Painted Ladies and can’t wait for our audience to get their hands on it.”

Nic says: “To me these are icons that never date; their looks have inspired not only myself but make up all over the world. I feel honoured that I get to share our discoveries with everyone and fulfil my dream at the same time.

The project will be produced by 7 Wonder, one of the UK’s fastest growing independent production companies, whose previous productions include Billy Connolly’s Tracks Across America (ITV), People’s History of Pop (BBC), Lenny Henry’s Got The Blues (Sky Arts) and Micky Flanagan’s Detour de France (Sky).

The documentary will see Sam and Nic charting the history of modern makeup by exploring the icons whose style defined their eras. From Marilyn Monroe to Kate Moss, they’ll find out how each achieved their image, discover why it could only have emerged in that particular age, and reveal the reasons why they are still influencing the fashion world today.

Pixiwoo Presents Painted Ladies: Icons (working title) will be exec produced for BBC Worldwide by Paul Hembury (Joe and Caspar Hit The Road, Top Gear The Perfect Road Trip I and II) alongside Dominic Smales of Gleam Futures and Alan Holland for 7 Wonder. It will be directed by Mike Reilly for BBC Worldwide.

Paul Hembury, Executive Producer says: “We are excited to make another foray in to the YouTube world especially with such a different concept to Joe and Caspar. Sam and Nic (aka Pixiwoo) are incredibly talented sisters and we are thrilled that they have chosen us to make their first step into long-form content.”

Dominic Smales of Gleam Futures added: “I am so excited to see Sam and Nic take this significant step as content creators. They are beauty pioneers and I am thrilled that this partnership with BBC Worldwide will bring their brand of expertise and entertainment to a whole new audience”

Alan Holland, Exec Producer at 7 Wonder adds: "We are delighted to be working with two of YouTube's biggest stars and taking their huge global following into the long form. We are always seeking ways to create new concepts and partnerships, so it’s been great to partner with Gleam and BBCWW, working closely together from the outset to create this exciting project.”

Pixiwoo Presents Painted Ladies: Icons (working title) is due to be released this autumn.
