7 Wonder takes Billy Connolly to the USA

Tracks Across America will be Connolly's third travelogue for ITV

The Scottish comedian is to front Billy Connolly’s Tracks Across America, a 3 x 60-minute series in which he will visit all four corners of the country by railway.

Kicking off his journey in New York this summer he will pass through regions including North Dakota’s bad lands, Arizona’s deserts, the Smokey Mountains and Louisiana’s swamplands. Along the way Connolly will share tales with a range of quirky characters.

Connolly will be reunited with series director Mike Reilly and 7 Wonder’s Alex Fraser, who he worked with on his previous ITV series Billy Connolly’s Route 66. He also worked with Reilly on ITV’s RTS award-winning doc Billy Connolly’s Big Send Off, produced by Burning Bright Productions, which examined dealing with death.

“Billy’s love of America, its people and music combined with his one of a kind wit and skewered powers of observation will make this show a joy to be part of and more importantly watch,” said Reilly.

Tracks Across America was ordered by ITV controller of factual Jo Clinton-Davis and director of factual Richard Klein.

The show will be series produced by Michelle Crowther who made 7 Wonder’s Sky 1 travelogue Micky Flanagan’s Detour De France. 7 Wonder’s Steve Condie will exec produce.

Connolly’s first US travelogue, Journey To The Edge of The World, was produced by ITV Studios in 2009.
